Strengthening Cooperative Structures Worldwide
As part of the "Federal Congress Cooperative Energy Transition" of the German Cooperative and Raiffeisen Confederation (DGRV) in Berlin, EWS eG supported GESTE with a donation of 7,500 euros. The foundation is committed to building and strengthening cooperative structures in the Global South, thereby contributing to sustainable development, economic participation, and social justice.
Steffen Müller, Executive Board Member of GESTE, emphasizes the importance of this commitment:
"The admission of the 15,000th member is an impressive milestone for EWS eG and a strong signal for the power of cooperative engagement. The fact that this occasion is linked to a donation to GESTE shows how closely community growth and global responsibility belong together."
Cooperative Values Put into Practice
EWS Schönau, founded in 1994 from a citizens' initiative against nuclear power and organized as a cooperative since 2009, stands for democratic participation, lived community, and consistently sustainable energy supply. The fact that a cooperative success story is accompanied by concrete support for international development cooperation impressively demonstrates how comprehensively these values are understood and lived.
We sincerely thank EWS eG for the support and trust in our work. Such partnerships show the potential of cooperative models—locally and globally.
